Early Childhood Family Education classes are offered in Richfield at the Central Education Center. Fees are based on a sliding scale, and no one is turned away for inability to pay!

2024 Richfield High School "Marching Spartans"
Richfield High School has had a tradition of excellence in Marching Band, every year since the school opened in 1954. We are excited to continue to build on that tradition this coming season. Rehearsals begin in March and the performance season begins when school concludes in June through July 4th. Performances include 8-10 competitive parades and special events throughout the State. Transportation, Instruction, Equipment, Instruments, Uniform and Accessories are all included with registration fee. Please reach out to RHS Band Director Chad.Armbruster@rpsmn.org with questions about the upcoming marching season. All 7-12 grade students are welcome and encouraged to participate as a member of the 2024 RHS Marching Spartans. Financial support for the participation fee is available by request to the director.

REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
Regular rehearsals begin Monday, March 18th @ RHS 5:30 - 7:45 p.m. and Wednesday, March 20th @ RHS 5:30 - 7:45 p.m. A complete calendar of summer events can be found here. Performances begin Mid-June and the season ends following performances on July 4th.

Since joining the Madison Junior Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in 1994, Mr. Armbruster has enjoyed his involvement as a performer, director and adjudicator for marching bands, drumlines, colorguards and drum and bugle corps throughout the country. Armbruster holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Arts in Education Degree from Hamline University. He currently serves as Director of Bands at Richfield High School in Richfield, Minnesota and is entering his 16th year as a public-school teacher. His experience as a music department leader and curriculum specialist, led to his invitation to serve the Minnesota Department of Education as a member of the 2018 Academic Arts Standards Review Committee.
Armbruster is active as a clinician, adjudicator and consultant for marching arts programs throughout the country. He currently serves as Head Judge and Judge Coordinator for Youth In Music and has held a variety of leadership positions with the following organizations and schools: Minnesota Brass, Southwind, Blue Stars, Madison Scouts, Spirit of Atlanta, Eastview HS, Champlin Park HS, St. Francis HS, Anoka HS and Henry Sibley HS. He has served as an adjudicator for Tri-State Judges Association, WSMA, Northstar Colorguard Circuit, Minnesota Percussion Association and Drum Corps International, most recently being selected to judge the Drum Corps International Open Class Finals in 2019 and 2022. Mr. Armbruster lives in Minneapolis with his wife Ellen, their son Walter and daughter Vienna.
